I pledge to help stop the abuse and sexual exploitation of children by knowing the signs and how to report concerns. *

Signs of child sexual exploitation

I am aware that the signs of child sexual exploitation include the child or young person -

  • Going missing for periods of time or regularly returning home late
  • Skipping school or being disruptive in class
  • Appearing with unexplained gifts or possessions that can’t be accounted for
  • Experiencing health problems that may indicate a sexually transmitted infection
  • Having mood swings or changes in temperament
  • Using drugs and/or alcohol
  • Displaying inappropriate sexualised behaviour
  • Shows signs of unexplained physical harm
  • Relationships with older peers or adults.

How to report a concern

I am aware that if I am concerned that a child may be at risk or experiencing child sexual exploitation that I should call:

  • Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency
  • Or social care on 024 7678 8555
  • Or out of hours on 024 8683 2222
